Susan E. Burrell
Ms. Burrell founded Ecowise-Solutions to fill a growing business need to increase profitability through better operational, environmental and social practices. She is an environmental attorney with over 16 years of corporate experience delivering results for large Fortune 500 companies. She began her career as in-house counsel with Exxon Company USA’s litigation department. Before forming Ecowise-Solutions Ms. Burrell served as Senior Vice President for American International Group’s general insurance product development division where she led a team of insurance experts tasked with maintaining AIG’s lead in developing profitable new products and services worldwide. In addition, Ms. Burrell was responsible for training business units on innovative thinking and trend analysis to facilitate new product and service development.
During her tenure at AIG, Ms. Burrell developed products and services that addressed varying risks associated with sustainability including, environmental regulations, climate change and green building. Ms. Burrell has extensive experience in international business development, environmental law, product development, project management, training and development and risk management. She currently has several patents pending for carbon emission trading risk transfer methodologies.
Ms. Burrell is a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Green Associate. Ms. Burrell also leads a sustainability professional development program being offered by the University of San Francisco. Ms. Burrell earned her Jurist Doctorial degree from Georgetown University and a Bachelors of Arts degree in Economics from Colgate University.
